AAPG 2018 at Salt Lake City

2018 AAPG Annual Convention and Exhibition (ACE) held at Salt Lake City from May 20th to 23rd

I travelled from Calgary to Salt Lake City on the afternoon of Sunday, May 20th. The 2-hour flight was short and sweet. Got to the registration area at the Salt Lake Convention Centre at 5 pm, to pick up my batch, and in time for the Ice Breaker on the exhibits floor. The exhibits floor was busy with attendees and the TGS booth was buzzing with activity. It was nice catching up with friends, meeting clients and acquaintances as well as newer folks. The two-and-a-half hours spent there flew by fast.

The TGS RS Group had the following two oral presentations at the ACE this time.

  1. Coherence attribute applications on seismic data with various guises

             Satinder Chopra and Kurt Marfurt

       2. Seismic reservoir characterization of Utica-Point Pleasant shale with efforts at quantitative interpretation – A case study,

Satinder Chopra, Ritesh Kumar Sharma, Mohammad Nemati and James Keay

Both presentations were received well, followed by some questions and answers. Got the opportunity to attend some other interesting talks as well. It was an interesting and enjoyable experience attending the AAPG ACE.

Some photos from this trip are appended below for my remembrance.
